The Inka trail is considered one of the most famous treks of the world, for along its route we may appreciate the ancestral cultural legacy of the Inkas -enigmatic pre-Hispanic culture-, as well as enjoying a great diversity of species of wild flora and fauna. All that takes place along this wonderful path, leading to the spectacular and beautiful sanctuary of Machupicchu that evokes the magnificence and importance of the Inka culture. That is why thousands of people wish to visit Machupicchu through the Inka trail, but unfortunately the capacity of the trail is limited, for reservations with much time in advance (at least six months) are required.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco (Km. 104) - Aguas Calientes

We will departure at 5:45 a.m. in order to take the tourist train towards the km 104 of the railway: Chachabamba -entrance point to the Inka trail of two days. After three hours walking we will arrive to the archeological center of Winñaywayna, where we will have lunch. Right after, we will walk for three hours towards the village of Aguas Calientes, passing through the "Puerta del Sol" (Sun Gate), from where the historic park of Machupicchu may be appreciated. At Aguas Calientes we will accommodate us in a hostel, in simple and double rooms, with private bath and hot water.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco

After breakfast we will take the first bus taking us uphill from Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu, more or less at 6:00 a.m. Once in Machupicchu we will have a guided tour, in Spanish or English according to request. After the tour we may enjoy some free time to take pictures, visiting other sites within the archeological complex, or even climbing the Huayna Picchu, a mountain located in the area. At 4:00 p.m. we will take the return-train to Cusco, arriving to the imperial city at 8:30 p.m.
